Macro Photography Techniques – Digital Photography 1 on 1 (#31) Video
www.adorama.com – Macro Photography Techniques and Tips – In this episode number 31, Mark will show you how to take those up close photos! Macro photography techniques allow unique opportunities to produce creative and dramatic photos and Mark shows us a couple examples. Macro Photography On Wiki: en.wikipedia.org – “Quote” Macrophotography is close-up photography, usually of very small subjects. Classically a macrophotograph is one in which the size of the subject on the negative is greater than life size. However in modern use it refers to a finished photograph of a subject at greater than life size.[1] The ratio of the subject size on the film plane (or image sensor plane) to the actual subject size is known as the reproduction ratio. Likewise, a macro lens is classically one lens capable of reproduction ratios greater than 1:1, although it now refers to any lens with a large reproduction ratio, despite rarely exceeding 1:1. Outside of technical photography and film-based processes, where the size of the image on the negative or image sensor is the subject of discussion, the finished print or on-screen image more commonly lends a photograph its macro status. For example, when producing a 6×4 inch (15×10 cm) print using 135 format film or sensor, a life-size result is possible with a lens having only a 1:4 reproduction ratio. Reproduction ratios much greater than 1:1 are considered to be the realm of photomicroscopy, often achieved with digital microscope. “End quote …

great work?
Hi- I was going to the butterfly gardens today & watched your video for some tips, which I also used & got really crap photos in the bargain. You say, to set an aperture of about 11/12, all my pics were crap- Waste of money & time. By mistake I had set my aperture to 5 on some? photos & the pics came out beautifully. I am just a beginner, & I want to say, I´m a little annoyed with myself for listening to you.
where? macro photography?
What kind cable release did you? are using it,thanks
u forgot to cover? the viewfinder!
i think? the video should have covered macro filters..and ratios… because not everyon ehas $1000 dollars laying around
Let us share the resources about photograph with each other, sub me ,thank you.?
I didn’t like this video.
You don’t need expensive? gear to take professional quality photos, a cheap way is to reverse your lens, and/or use extension tubes, this way you don’t have to buy an expensive macro lens + you can use the build in flash with a home made flash extender/diffuser, no need to buy a 500$ flash for that.
A Pringles can will do.
hay Mark, macro photography isn’t your thing ain’t it??
If you really want to take to the “end of the game”..?… dont use a cable release and save your money and dont buy a macro lens, get some macro? tubes. Macro lenses are really sharp but dont make for interesting pics by themselves.
You can get better, cheaper results without them.
This is? a very bad macro “tute”. Cable release???!!!!
This is a? very bad macro “tute”
RE uploaded !?
Why upload an old? episode? -_-;
you have uploaded? a video that we already saw
Mark may be busy? doing his creative live thing?
@ashkibala1 Not really, but they work fine as portrait leses too! Very nice bokeh. If you limit the foucus range, they are? not that slow either.
@ashkibala1 in theory, they take sharper/better portraits because lenses required to builld a macro lens are of a? higher quality.
I knew I remember watching this when Mark started to talk about? the ant hill… :-

cool?
Thanks Mark. I have seen some portrait photographers? shooting portraits with macro lenses like EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM in studios. Is there any reason for that?
Thanks again Mark
